The National Oesophago-Gastric Cancer Audit (NOGCA)\u00a02019 Report for Public and Patients<\/a>\u00a0was published this month.<\/p>\n

NOGCA evaluates the quality of hospital care for patients with oesophagogastric (OG) cancer in England and Wales, and provides information that helps NHS cancer services to compare their performance and to identify areas of care that could be improved.<\/p>\n

Since 2012, there have been continued improvements in patients\u2019 chances of surviving curative surgery for OG cancer, and reductions in the length of stay in hospital. However, the audit has also identified that some hospitals are struggling to meet national cancer waiting time targets, and there are regional variations in the use of recommended tests for OG cancer.<\/p>\n
