VALUE Study<\/h1>\n

Background\"\"<\/strong><\/h3>\n

VALUE is an observational study investigating Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) staging in patients with oesophageal cancer.<\/p>\n

It will look at how often EUS changes treatment decisions, and why. Since the introduction of PET-CT staging, the added value of conducting an EUS has been questioned.<\/p>\n

Aims<\/p>\n

VALUE aims to determine how often, and why, EUS changes treatment decisions. This trial will also evaluate patient and clinician experiences and opinions of EUS.<\/p>\n

Design and Methods<\/h3>\n

VALUE aims to recruit 180 patients with potentially curable oesophageal cancer, who are suitable for EUS.<\/p>\n

Patients will be invited to consent to the trial either before their EUS or on the day of their EUS.<\/p>\n

As this is an observational study, there are no additional patient visits required. All data will be collected from the patient\u2019s standard of care pathway.<\/p>\n

Up to 30 patients and 30 clinicians will be invited to be interviewed to evaluate the use of EUS and give their experience of EUS.<\/p>\n
