{"id":16676,"date":"2016-03-07T21:29:18","date_gmt":"2016-03-07T21:29:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/opa.org.uk\/?p=16676"},"modified":"2021-01-28T21:34:46","modified_gmt":"2021-01-28T21:34:46","slug":"prince-charles-and-camilla-drop-in-to-opa-session-in-harrogate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/?p=16676","title":{"rendered":"Prince Charles and Camilla drop in to OPA Session in Harrogate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16678 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Prince-Charles-21-1-300x212.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Prince-Charles-21-1-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Prince-Charles-21-1-150x106.jpg 150w, https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Prince-Charles-21-1.jpg 340w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>David and Barbara Shreeve organise a monthly drop in session for members of the Leeds Regional OPA at the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre at Harrogate Hospital. \u00a0It is an informal occasion and gives members the opportunity to discuss issues in a relaxed and friendly environment. \u00a0Part of the session is to enjoy light refreshments home baking, local cheeses and pies.<\/p>\n<p>At the drop in session on Thursday 18 February members were delighted to welcome HRH Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16679 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Prince-Charles1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Prince-Charles1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Prince-Charles1-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Prince-Charles1.jpg 340w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Prince Charles is the Patron of Macmillan Cancer Care, a key partner of the OPA, \u00a0that provides assistance in awareness campaigns, accommodation for meetings, literature, training and online information for oesophageal cancer patients.<\/p>\n<p>The Royal visitors were very interested in the work of the OPA and particularly in how patients and carers support one another. \u00a0 John Taylor, Chairman of the Leeds Regional Group had the opportunity to speak at length to Prince Charles on the nature of the disease and the effects of the treatment. \u00a0Prince Charles was also interested in the impact on the carer and questioned carers on their experiences.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16680 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/David-and-Duchess-of-Cornwall1-300x191.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/David-and-Duchess-of-Cornwall1-300x191.jpg 300w, https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/David-and-Duchess-of-Cornwall1-150x95.jpg 150w, https:\/\/opa-old.voidappsdev.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/David-and-Duchess-of-Cornwall1.jpg 340w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Camilla talked with David Shreeve about the problems being encountered by survivors of oesophageal cancer, and those still undergoing treatment, particularly in regard to eating.
